Arrive in Adelaide

Adelaide Zoo
Enjoy breakfast before starting your day at the colourful Adelaide Central Market. Open six days a week, it is the largest covered market in the Southern Hemisphere, and the kids will enjoy exploring it. Visit stalls selling cheese, charcuterie and jams, and pick up some goodies for a lunchtime picnic at the Adelaide Zoo.
When you’re all ready for lunch head over to the Adelaide Zoo, home to Australia’s only Giant Pandas. Spread out on the lawn to enjoy your picnic lunch and then check out some of the 2500 animals who call the zoo home.

RoofClimb Adelaide Oval
This morning prepare yourself for a city tour like no other, a RoofClimb over the Adelaide Oval stadium. The tour starts at 10am, experience 360 degree views of Adelaide and its surrounds. Sit in the rooftop stadium seats, 50 metres over the turf – duration 2hrs.
Then take a short walk to the tram stop and a 50-minute tram ride to Glenelg. Enjoy a late lunch beachside, and spend the afternoon relaxing with a stroll along the jetty and a swim, or let the kids run off some steam on the amazing Glenelg Foreshore Playground.

Kangaroo Island via McLaren Vale
After breakfast check out of the Oval Hotel and get your hire car delivered to the hotel. Enjoy the one hour drive to McLaren Vale. There are some great family friendly wineries to visit: Maxwell wines with a giant conifer maze, Gemtree wines where kids can meet the resident alpacas whilst adults enjoy some wine tasting. Stop in to Woodstock Winery and enjoy a relaxed lunch at the Woodstock Coterie and visit their wildlife sanctuary.
Make the hour drive to Cape Jervis in time for your prebooked 4pm ferry to Kangaroo Island. Once on the island enjoy a 30 minute drive to your accommodation, the luxurious Oceanview Eco Villas, where you will meet your hosts and settle into your two-bedroom villa. Relax and be treated to a three course locally sourced dinner in your own villa, complete with wine.

Seal Bay
Spend the day with a guide from Exceptional Kangaroo Island Tours, starting by exploring the bush – look for small wallabies, koalas snoozing, a species of kangaroo only found on KI and the many different species of birds. Break for lunch at a private bush camp and enjoy a delicious meal featuring King George whiting, fresh salads and fine South Australian wines.
At Seal Bay Conservation Park take a private tour with your guide among Australian sea-lions on a beautiful sandy beach – an experience similar to that of the Galapagos.

Wildlife refuge and Remarkable Rocks
Today your guide from Exceptional Kangaroo Island Tours will take you to the island’s north-west where an important private wildlife refuge with Kangaroo Island Land for Wildlife is located. Get an introduction to the bush and learn about wildlife surveys targeting tiny endangered mammals
Picnic lunch provided, featuring marinated poached chicken, fresh salads, cheeses and fantastic South Australian wine, beer and soft drinks.
After lunch, travel into Flinders Chase National Park and explore the massive shapes of Remarkable Rocks, a natural sculpture perched impossibly on top of a dome of granite emerging from the ocean.

Raptor Domain and Beehive
Drive yourself to spend the morning at Raptor Domain, an environmental, educational and rehabilitation centre for injured or orphaned birds of prey.
In the afternoon head over to Island Beehive. Take a guided tour, enjoy free tastings of organic honey, browse the shop and stop by the café for some delicious scones.
