El Questro Homestead

An all-inclusive Kimberley Wilderness Experience

El Questro Homestead offers an enchanting luxury within the remote and untamed Kimberley. With just 9 suites in a remarkable setting – the magnificent views and sunsets only enhance it’s exclusivity. Homestead staff will ensure that every moment is an experience by tailoring all your included meals, tours and activities for each guest.

El Questro Wilderness Park lies just under two hours drive from Kununurra in the remote Eastern Kimberley Region. Accessed via the Gibb River Road – The Homestead is perched atop the rugged cliffs of the Chamberlain Gorge and surrounded by tropical gardens. With spectacular views and wide verandahs, guests have exclusive use of the Homestead facilities and can expect world class dining and service in a relaxed but luxurious setting.

Open from April to October, the winter months rarely experience rainfall and enjoy sunny warm days of high 20’s and low 30’s. Nights are cooler between 8 and 18 Degrees. April and May experience temperatures in the mid 30’s but the gorge walks and waterholes make up for the heat by revealing lush foliage and full water holes to swim and cool down.

Your all-inclusive stay comprises of:

Gourmet homestead meals
A fine selection of wine, beer, house and selected spirits and sparkling wine
Daily replenished mini bar
A range of nature and wildlife activities, many exclusive to Homestead guests such as exclusive use of Zebedee Springs each afternoon

Welcome to your Kimberley Oasis

Depart Kununurra today for your transfer. Scheduled road transfers operate from Kununurra Airport and the town ship twice daily. The journey is just under 2 hours. Private transfers by vehicle or air can be pre-arranged at a supplement. We recommend a scenic flight option incorporating a trip over the Bungle Bungle – Purnululu National Park.

Check in to your chosen suite and staff will acquaint you with the Homestead – your wilderness oasis for the next 4 nights.

An El Questro Ranger will tailor your activities for the coming days. Between 2.30 pm and 5pm pm daily, Homestead guests have exclusive use of Zebedee Springs. An El Questro Ranger will drive you to this hideaway for your first experience. It is an oasis of thermal pools, waterfalls and lush vegetation in which to relax and rejuvenate after a busy day.

Dine under a canopy of stars this evening and sample the modern Australian menu which changes daily and showcases local, seasonal produce.

Champagne Springs Walk with the return by Helicopter and Chamberlain River Cruise

Depart in the morning for Champagne Springs. The walking trail is mostly shaded and turns from sandy and somewhat rocky into rugged terrain. As you approach the Springs, a hidden valley reveals itself with lush and tropical foliage and the waterhole with it’s cascading falls. Champagne Springs is named for the crystal-clear springs that bubble from deep inside the earth’s interior before surfacing.

A helicopter awaits to take you on a scenic flight along the Pentecost and Chamberlain Gorges, landing you back at the Homestead.

After lunch, relax before a Chamberlain Gorge cruise, A ranger will take you on the 3km journey in the homestead’s private “dinghy”. Look out for Rock Wallabies, Johnston Crocodiles and cheeky Archer fish.

Return at dusk with the cliffs bathed in warm hues.

Morning Activity of choice and afternoon relaxation or activity

This morning you may have chosen a guided walk with your ranger or selected the History, Nature and Bush Culture Tour – giving an insight to the many facets of El Questro. Learn about it’s transformation from a cattle station to the awarded and esteemed tourism destination it is globally recognised for today.

Departing around 2.30 pm, you will visit Explosion Gorge and Branco’s Lookout.

Head out on a 4-wheel drive and experience the outback on an open air safari-style adventure. At the end of the track lies Explosion Gorge, an amphitheatre-style gorge that opens up before you during a 45 minute boat cruise. Finish the tour on Branco’s Lookout with views back to the Homestead and the Pentecost River rushing below. Enjoy a glass of bubbly and a taste of cheese while the sun sets before you make your way home.

The Big Day Out!

One of the Homestead’s most loved experiences is the “Big Day Out’ where you will circumnavigate the Cockburn Range.

This is a full day experience as diverse and unique as the Kimberley landscape you travel through.

The tour is designed to provide opportunities for bird and wildlife spotting of the “Big Five”-  Brolgas, Jabirus, Crocodiles, Bullocks and Wallaroos. Explore the wonders of El Questro and enjoy an incredible lunch prepared by your Homestead Chef.

An alternative tour offered is the Bird Watching tour where a Ranger will take you early in the morning to the local bird watching sites. There are over 100 species on El Questro including pheasant coucals, dancing Brolgas and even the once near extinct Gouldian finch.

The afternoon is at leisure to relax by the pool or Zebedee Springs.

Morning Sightseeing before your return to Kununurra
