A four wheel drive is not necessary to experience the remote and magical wonders of El Questro.
Save the stress and money from packing up for a self drive holiday and enjoy transfers from Kununurra and guided tours by Rangers and 4wd within the diverse landscape!
Open from April to October, The Station is the hub of El Questro and accessed via the Gibb River Road by road or air.
The nearest airport is Kununurra and it is from here you will be collected for the road transfer to enjoy your Fully Guided El Questro Experience.
El Questro is in a remote and rugged part of the Kimberley that will captivate not only the nature and wildlife lover, hiker, bird watcher or photographer but is an exciting experience for children too.

Activities will suit a moderate level of fitness and can be altered to suit your capabilities and interests.

The leisurely 5 day itinerary of the Fully Guided El Questro Experience allows for time to relax in between activities from the El Questro Station hub- a lively site catering for drive up campers along the river or pre-booked cabins and tents.

Your holiday includes:
Return scheduled road transfers from Kununurra (private or air transfers available at a supplement)
4 nights accommodation at the Station in either a Station Tent (serviced daily with fresh linen and comfortable beds), River View Room or Garden View room
A guided afternoon excursion with a gorge cruise and look out point for sunset
A guided gorge walk with Zebedee Springs and transfers
A bush culture and history tour
Plenty of leisure time to swim at the Station’s water hole or self hike from the Station to the nearby gorges or along the Pentecost River

Transfer from Kununurra

A scheduled transfer will collect you from Kununurra Airport of the town centre, the journey takes just under 2 hours.

Private transfers by air or vehicle can be arranged at a supplement, Travelling by air, you can also opt for a 2 hour scenic flight over the Bungle Bungle- Purnululu National Park and Lake Argyle.

The afternoon is at leisure to relax, swim in the refreshing waterhole or soak up the lively atmosphere at the restaurant and bar.

The “Swinging Arm” Bar is open throughout the day for a meal or drink- the outdoor area is inviting with shade sails, ducted water mist and landscaped gardens.

Gorge walk and sunset look out

This morning, relax or perhaps walk along the Pentecost River exploring the grounds.

There is plenty of time to swim and speak to staff about the various tours and walks available.

After lunch, relax before a guided excursion to Explosion Gorge and Branco’s Lookout for sunset.

An open air safari vehicle will drive along a unique track which extends along the Chamberlain Gorge. Here you will join a waiting boat to experience a gorge cruise. A 4WD experience follows to experience a Kimberley Sunset from Branco’s Lookout.

Guided walk and Zebedee Springs

This morning, enjoy a Gorge Walk to Emma or El Questro Gorge, guided by a ranger. The Tour includes a guided walk, Zebedee Thermal Springs and road transfers.

Emma Gorge is known as one of the most spectacular of El Questro’s Gorges. The cliffs rise up 120 metres on both sides of the trail. Reaching the end, the reward is the sight of a large swimming hole backed by a gentle waterfall you can take a dip under!

The El Questro Gorge is geographically fascinating- the small swimming hole is found in a lush forest setting, surrounded by scree slopes and sheer sandstone walls up to 1800 million years old. The Gorge was carved out and eroded by a creek watercourse following a geological fault line.

The afternoon is at leisure. Relax in the water pool and chat to the intrepid guests and campers likely visiting from afar.

History, nature and bush tucker tour

Today, your tour will give you an insight into the pioneering heritage and characters that ran El Questro as a working Station. Learn about the indigenous people’s use of bush plants as medicinal means, weapons and even fish poison. The tour includes morning tea served at a shady waterhole.

The Afternoon is a leisure, you may wish to add a sunset tour to another look out.

Morning sightseeing before your return to Kununurra

Today there is time to self hike in the morning along the Pentecost River looking for birdlife and fish.

Optional added tour – Champagne Breakfast at Champagne Springs.by helicopter.

The morning helicopter flight will arrive at Champagne Springs where you can take a refreshing dip in the cascading waters. Whilst enjoying a continental champagne breakfast, take out the camera and capture the colours of the cliffs as the sunlight paints the escarpment walls. Take the 2.4 km self guided walk back to the station after breakfast or add the return scenic flight as a supplement.

Journey back to Kununurra by scheduled transfer leaving the majesty of El Questro behind but savouring the memories.
