Jean-Michel is located in the northern part of Fiji on the island of Vanu Levu, situated amidst 17 acres of coconut plantation overlooking Savusavu Bay. Getting to Jean-Michel is easy, just a 1 hour domestic flight from Nadi Airport to Savusavu, then a short 15 minute vehicle ride straight to the resort. The adventure of getting to Jean-Michel is all part of your holiday fun with so many fabulous sights to see along the way.

Rooms and Amenities

The resort consists of 24 fan cooled bures and 1 air conditioned luxury villa. There are 8 x garden, 6 x oceanfront bures, 6 x 2 bedroom bures and 4 x Point Reef bures. All bures are a fuse of contemporary décor with traditional Fijian designs and free of electronic devices, have sun decks, hammocks, tea/coffee facilities & a safe. The villa has a private infinity pool, sunken tub with jacuzzi, indoor and outdoor showers, walled garden and expansive decks.

Meals & Drinks

3 gourmet meals daily, afternoon tea, specialty teas, espresso coffees, bottled soft drinks and water are included in the room charge.   Chef Lee sources fresh, seasonal ingredients from the island’s organic garden, locally caught fish and seafood, and produce from regions of the South Pacific. Typical dishes on the daily changing menu include New Zealand lamb or chargrilled prawns with corn salad. The restaurant has magnificent views overlooking Savusavu Bay with the soaring mountains in the distance, guests can dine poolside or in a separate adult only sanctuary.  Once a week a traditional Fijian “Lovo” feast is served, local delicacies are prepared in a fire pit with hot embers covered with banana leaves.  Guests can also request a beach or island picnic, or a private barbecue by the pool. 

Mojitos and margaritas are the order of the day in the poolside bar, which overlooks the ocean and blue-tinged hills beyond. During cocktail hour, expect to be serenaded with tunes from the local ‘Beach Boys’ band.

Activities & Inclusions

Discover boundless opportunities of fun and adventure for adults and children. Marvel at the colour, beauty and diversity of the extraordinary underwater world as you glide above in a glass bottom boat or snorkel over. Join one of the elders for a stroll around the grounds and discover the many traditional medicines contained in the indigenous plants and listen to traditional story telling.  Join the resident marine biologist exploring the mangroves and planting a mangrove seedling along the shoreline or walk on the reef flats at low tide and discover the fascination coral reef ecosystem. Paddle board, sail or kayak around the shoreline of Savusavu Bay.  Fishing and diving can be arranged at an additional cost. 

Complimentary Bula Club for Kids operates daily for children aged 6 to 12. Facilities include swimming pools with slides, jungle gym, zip-line, trampoline, sandbox and an arts & crafts centre. A junior chef program visits the resorts organic garden, they harvest the produce and assist in the preparation of either lunch or dinner.   Young guests have the option to either dine at the Bula club for lunch and/or dinner, parents are then free to dine in the adult section of the restaurant. Each child 5 and under is assigned a dedicated nanny for the duration of their stay.    

When to travel

The best time to visit Fiji for clear blue skies is from May through to September. October through to April make up the wet season which is also the time of year most at risk of cyclone. Temperatures range from 19 degrees – 29 degrees in Winter and from 22 degrees -33 degrees in Summer

Getting there

International direct flight to Nadi from most Australian capital cities. Upon arrival at Nadi airport you will be met by a JMC greeter and escorted to the short 1 hour flight to Savusavu where resort staff will collect you and transfer you to the resort in under 20 minutes.  Or charter a seaplane from Nadi and be dropped on the jetty at the resort.
