Alice Springs

On arrival in Alice Springs and collect your hire car and make your way to the Crowne Plaza Alice Springs Lasseters. After check-in, take a short 25min drive to Simpsons Gap. This stunning gorge is carved out of the West MacDonnell Ranges, where water flows out of a small gap in the range. Enjoy a short walk to see some wildlife and scenery.

When you’re ready head back towards Alice Springs. If you have time to spare, stop in at the Alice Springs Desert Park, where you can experience the beauty of Australian desert, watch the birds of prey flying display and visit the nocturnal house.

Return to Alice Springs  for the ‘Spirit of the Outback’ at Earth sanctuary, where you’ll enjoy a 3-course gourmet BBQ dinner while being entertained with an amazing show of local ecology, culture and astronomy.

Waterholes on the way to Kings Canyon

Prepare for a three and a half hour drive to Kings Canyon, through some spectacular landscapes. Break up the drive with a stop at Standley Chasm, Ellery Creek Big Hole and Ormiston Gorge for some stunning scenery and a few places to cool down with a swim.

Stop off at Tnorala Conservation Reserve, the site of a crater with an astounding five kilometres in circumference. This was created approximately 142 million years ago, and is one of the largest impact craters in the world.

Finish your drive at Kings Canyon Resort, check into either a resort room or a glamping tent – if you’re feeling more adventurous.

Kings Canyon Rim Walk

Today take a break from driving and enjoy the iconic Rim Walk which takes you to the top of the Kings Canyon. This 6 kilometre circuit winds you down into the Garden of Eden and then up to the top of the canyon where you’ll be spellbound by the 360 degree views.

After your walk return to Kings Canyon Resort where you can cool off from the heat with a swim or simply relax with a drink and watch the sunset over the canyon.

Your first glimpse of Uluru

Check out of Kings Canyon Resort and make your way to world famous Uluru.

Along the way you’ll see Mt Conner, which is often mistaken for Uluru. Keep an eye out for views of the Lake Amadeus salt plains near the Mt Conner Lookout.

Stop in for lunch at Curtin Springs Wayside Inn, where you might spot the resident emu! After lunch continue the drive to Uluru and check into the Ayers Rock Resort, where you can choose which style of accommodation suits your group best.

Explore Uluru

Have an early wake up call to get yourself ready for a sunrise camel safari – a peaceful one hour camel ride over the rich red sand dunes in the cool, clear morning air. Witness the sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Watch the desert come to life as our friendly and knowledgeable cameleers tell you about the flora and fauna along the trail before enjoying breakfast.

In the afternoon take a guided tour around the base of Uluru the learning about the cultural significance of the landscape or join in a range of family-friendly activities on offer at the resort, including dot painting workshops and free Indigenous storytelling.

Bush tucker tour and Field of Lights

Spend your morning on a two-hour bush-tucker and reptile tour with an Indigenous guide – tasting traditional bush foods, learning about desert survival and getting up close and personal to desert wildlife.

Finish your holiday with dinner overlooking the spectacular field of lights. Spanning more than seven football fields this light show is the perfect way to finish your adventure in the desert.
