Truly Unforgettable Experiences

One of the things we love most about travelling abroad, is its ability to change the way we perceive or understand the world around us. It is this experiential travel or ‘cultural travel’ area that our team gets especially excited about planning.

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustave Flaubert

Beyond the creature comforts of your hotel room and far removed from the canned entertainment and ‘local attractions’ is something rich, deep and intimate. This form of experiential tourism will see you connect with your destination’s history, its people and their culture.

We have built an enviable reputation for crafting immersive holidays that let you and your group step into what feels like another life and truly experience another culture as a local – not a traveller.

Some of the unique travel experiences we’ve planned include:

  • Experiencing spiritual healing with a shaman in Siberia
  • Learning how to serve & brew tea with a geisha in Japan
  • Understanding the mind & spirit connection with a Buddhist monk in Tibet
  • Preparing a traditional family meal with a local town cook in Sicily

Why experiential?

Also known as immersion travel, experiential tourism is building in popularity as travellers are seeking a holiday that opens them up to something unexpected or removed from their everyday life. Experiences can focus on one or several areas of the destination’s local life, such as food & meal times, culture, history, shopping, nature or social life. Think of it as looking from the inside, out rather than the traditional outside, in experience.

“Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all of one’s lifetime.” – Mark Twain

Experiential doesn’t mean forgoing iconic locations, sleeping it rough or going without creature comforts – it’s about authenticity.

More than just visiting as a tourist, experiential travellers get the opportunity to engage all of their senses and tap into the native culture. They travel to places that are completely different to their home, immerse themselves in the daily life and learn from the locals, before returning home with a new appreciation for culture, history and most importantly – the people of the country. It’s something so much richer than your standard travel experience!

If you want to escape the everyday, run of the mill travel experience and replace it with something more adventurous, get in touch with our team today.
